Roy James

President & CEO, On Target Staffing LLC

Roy James is a visionary entrepreneur, business leader, and community servant whose career reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence, integrity, and service. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, with dual degrees in Finance and Management and a minor in Sociology. While attending college, Roy owned his own promotion company and managed three Levi’s retail stores across Boston, early experiences that instilled in him the values of leadership, discipline, and teamwork.
After college, Roy began his professional career at State Street Bank, where he served as a Portfolio Manager for major institutional clients, including The World Bank and the State of Connecticut. He later joined Mass Financial Services (MFS) as a Pricing Specialist, gaining deeper expertise in financial management and large-scale business operations.

In 1998, Roy and his fiancée relocated to New Jersey, where he accepted a position as Vice President of Operations within the staffing industry. Charged with managing and expanding the business, he successfully led the company to more than 40% growth, laying the foundation for his entrepreneurial journey.

In April 2001, Roy founded On Target Staffing LLC with just three employees and one office. His goal from the start was clear, to build a company that genuinely values both its clients and its people. Through persistence, teamwork, and a client-first philosophy, On Target Staffing has grown into a national organization with multiple offices across the United States, serving clients in all industries and professions.

Today, the company proudly operates throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico, providing comprehensive workforce solutions that adapt to the ever-changing needs of its partners. On Target Staffing has become a true one-stop shop for staffing and recruitment, offering services ranging from temporary and permanent placements to executive search and national recruiting.

Roy attributes the company’s growth to its commitment to service and innovation. As he often tells his team,
“Every client should feel like our only client. Our job is to deliver solutions, not excuses, and to make sure every customer gets everything they need with one call.”

Outside of his business endeavors, Roy has proudly served with the Princeton Fire Department for nearly three decades, holding every leadership position from Firefighter to Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief. His dedication to public service inspired his children’s book, A Boy’s Dream, which tells the story of why he became a firefighter and the values of courage, teamwork, and community that continue to shape his life.

Among his most meaningful achievements, Roy was instrumental in bringing a piece of steel from the World Trade Center to Princeton, where it now stands as a memorial honoring the victims of September 11, 2001, a project he describes as both humbling and deeply personal.

In addition to his business and community leadership, Roy is a licensed pilot and an active volunteer with both Pilots N Paws and Angel Flight, organizations dedicated to using aviation to serve others. Through these missions, he helps rescue animals from shelters and transport patients in need of critical medical care,  combining his passion for flying with his lifelong commitment to helping people and making a difference.

Through every endeavor, Roy James continues to embody his lifelong passions,  working hard, helping others, and making a positive difference in business, in his community, and in the lives of others.
